The Balls Creek Camp Meeting has been held each August since 1853 in Catawba County, N.C. The land is owned by Methodists, although they are not connected to the annual meeting. The event has been held every year except one, in the 1940s, when there was a polio outbreak. The meeting began as a religious event but has become a religious revival and the main social event for families in the area. Attendees range from two months old to over 90 years.
